Fitting the spring to my shock

We use a standard sized spring so it will fit on most shocks. Most shocks will need a Performance Adapter for a proper fit. Since the Obtainium Ti spring has a 1.5 inch (38.1mm) inner diameter (I.D.) the Performance Adapter will allow the spring to fit a smaller I.D. For example the Fox or Marzocchi shock has a 1.370 inch I.D. By using the Performance Adapter our 1.5 inch I.D. will fit properly without unwanted movement. Also since titanium springs use fewer coils they can be shorter and still have the needed travel.

How to choose the correct size

Measure the stroke of the shock.
Make sure to measure the exposed
shaft and the bottom bumper.

 Choosing the correct spring rate

Look at your current spring rate and use it as reference. You can either go up or down depending on how you wish adjust your ride.

Once you have established the answers above you need to choose your spring using the next rules
  1. Spring travel or stroke should be equivalent to or greater than travel of the shock.
  2. Spring length should be less than the max free length of the shock (This is so spring will actually fit)
  3. Spring Rate should be acceptable to go with your body weight, bike and riding technique.
